HoopSeen Tip-Off Day 1 Top Performers
Jeremiah Camara #34 (Next Level Elite – Burdette) – Camara lived above the rim in a tight battle against Norcross Heat Select. He had a strong game in the paint on both sides of the ball, sending shots back and attacking the rim with aggression. Camara also showcased a surprisingly soft touch in his post move game with a solid short to mid-range jumper. Camara’s post presence and toughness helped Next Level Elite – Burdette sneak by 48-47.
Malek Patterson #13 (Team Hickory) – Patterson was extremely effective driving to the cup and finishing through contact. He showed off his quick first step and his shiftiness around the hoop, finding the right angle to finish. Patterson has impressive body control for someone who plays as confidently and aggressively as he does. Patterson finished with 16 points in Team Hickory’s game vs. Next Level Elite.
Javario Tinch #3 (Next Level Elite) – Tinch was all over the offensive glass vs. Team Hickory. He utilized his long frame to grab countless offensive rebounds and go back up strong for the putback. Tinch is also an active defender, using his length to disrupt passes and contest shots. Tinch also showed off a bit of his post skills knocking down a post fade and setting up a few of his teammates for easy buckets. Tinch’s 14 points and activity on the glass helped Next Level Elite past Team Hickory 64-52.
Nisani Mendez #23 (Team Swish) – Mendez had a solid all-around game in a tight battle vs. G1 2023. Mendez was able to use his athleticism to get to the hoop and to the free throw line. On the defensive end, Mendez showcased his active hands and quick feet to stay with his opponent and get his team out on the fast break where Mendez threw down a dunk early in the game. Mendez would finish with 15 in a close battle that would end with a buzzer beater in favor of G1, 69-67.
Deondre St Clair #1 (G1 2023) – St Clair was putting the ball in the hoop from everywhere on the court. He has a pure three pointer and a smooth pull up jumper from just about every spot on the floor. St Clair also showed his ability to attack the rim and get to the free throw line, where he was very consistent. He had some huge buckets towards the end of the game that helped G1 maintain their lead against Team Swish. St Clair’s 32 points and a last second buzzer beater would get G1 the 69-67 win.
