One of the most impressive big men I saw during the travel season was 2024 St. George (UT) Dixie High School center Kyle Lemke. In fact, he may have been one of the most productive players I saw all season. 

Lemke, a 6-foot-8 big man, excelled with his back to the basket with his Utah Flight team. With a soft set of hands and nimble feet, he proved a point consistently against other bigs: if you let him catch it around the block, he’s going to score. 

The junior has an array of post moves at his disposal. Once you think you have him figured out, he has a counter-move to throw into the equation. That’s one of the things that separates Lemke from his peers — he’s basically a point guard in a big man’s body. His tremendous basketball IQ is apparent, and it’s entertaining to watch him on the floor. No matter the setting, he constantly produces with Dixie High School and his ‘Flight Fam.’ 

“I thought the travel season went really well for our team,” Lemke told HoopSeen.com. “I thought I did pretty good from an individual standpoint. The best part of my game is my post play.”

Lemke’s knack for scoring in the low-post is certainly a gift, but make no mistake — he’s a capable shooter with the ability to stretch the floor, too. He also does a nice job of passing out of the post. 

Utah Tech has already extended a scholarship offer to the in-state big man while Snow College is also showing interest. Unfortunately for both of those schools, I think Division I programs will come calling in time. Lemke’s ability to score along with his rebounding and IQ will make himself a hot commodity for schools out West.

Until then, Lemke is focused on the high school season ahead. More specifically, he’s focused on avenging a loss in the state championship game last season.

“My goals are to improve each day with my team and win a lot of games and a state championship.”

Keep an eye on Lemke as the high school season gets going. He’s a prime suspect for a blow-up on the recruiting trail, and I think Big Sky, Big West, and Summit League schools will be all over him in due time.
