2022 Alabama Preview Camp Team 5 Evaluations
GUNTERSVILLE, Al—Here are the team five evaluations as compiled by our coaches and staff.
Miles is a bonafide shooter. He’s ready to shoot as soon as he gets it, and he can hit ‘em off the dribble too. He’s a smart guard who can play on and off the ball well. Most shooters play a finesse game, but Miles hhas some edge and doesn’t mind a physical style.
One of the best long-term prospects, Dawson had an eye-opening camp. He has a strong frame and blends physicality with athleticism. Dawson is explosive on drives and plays through contact. He showed plenty of potential as a multi-level scorer. On defense, he uses his length and athleticism to guard every position. Dawson is also a good rebounder. He has so much upside.
Whorton is a younger, quick guard. He has an advanced feel for the game for being on the younger end of the spectrum. Whorton is an outstanding on-ball defender who can lock up the point of attack. He will be a player to track over the coming years.
McCall is a strong, physical guard. He can be a versatile defender because of his physicality. With the ball in his hands, McCall made nice passes and didn’t force shots when he had good looks. He was a communicator on both ends of the floor, and he was ultra-competitive on defense.
In terms of defensive guards, Germono has to be at the top of the list from Sunday. He’s a pest of a defender on the ball and is aggressive on that end of thee floor. He was part of a great defensive backcourt. Germono is shifty, quick on offense and can break defenses down well off the dribble. He’s a great lead guard who’s an above-average passer.
