15U Iso Joe went on a 6-0 run in the final 22 seconds to CLAW back & beat the Baton Rouge Red Claws, 74-72.

Iso’s AJ Howard had a stellar offensive game in the first stanza. Howard finished the half with 12 points, and was aggressive in the getting through the defense and into the paint. Markalon Rochelle followed suit with six points of his own.

The Red Claws got it going in the second half, though.

Charles LeBlanc went off for 14 points in the period, doing what he could in the paint and at the charity stripe. He finished with 21 points. Teammates Kylan Thomas & Jamal Drewery added-in 12, each. They took a 72-68 lead with less than a half-minute to go.

Then, it all unfolded.

Iso’s LeBron Christian hit a tough and-one lay to bring his squad within one with 22 seconds to go. On the next Red Claws possession, they missed a layup & Iso rebounded. Christian sped down-court to to catch a pass in-stride and finish at the rim. Iso led 74-73 with just 11 seconds left on the clock. Christian scored 13 of his 14 points in the second half.

The Red Claws couldn’t get their sea legs, traveled on their next possession, forcing them to foul with 0.5 seconds left to play. After Iso converted one of two free-throws, the Claws fumbled the inbound pass, giving Iso Joe the right to call themselves 15U Orange Bracket Champs.

Rochelle and Howard led all scorers, each earning 20 points in the win.
