13U Best of the South Champions: C2K Thunder
ATLANTA, GA - In the first half, Ohio C2K – Thunder brought the energy early as they jumped into their press quickly after scoring their first three baskets. Once they were in their halfcourt defense, they jumped all, if not many of the passes and broke away for various fastbreak possessions. OFW Galaxy Black kept their own tempo as well and kept it close, closing the half only down 2 with a score of 25-23, Ohio C2K-Thunder. OFW Galaxy Black looks to contain Ohio C2K – Thunder as they attempt to take control of the game and the momentum. This certainly is on the brink of being a great championship game between the two 13U teams.
Coming out of the half, Ohio C2K – Thunder came out strong as they immediately scored and set the tempo. Led by their top scorer in C. Kynard with 16 points, joined by J. Langford with 14 points. Ohio C2K got to the rim and finished and that was the difference-maker for most of the game. OFW Galaxy Black got away from the things that made them successful which was sharing the ball and having great spacing. Instead, they forced a lot of their shots at the rim and with the long rebounds, allowed Ohio C2K – Thunder to get an advantage on the fastbreak.
OFW Galaxy Black’s leading scorer was their big man, Stubbs. He kept them in the game for most of the game and he made his imprint on the game early and often. Unfortunately, OFW Galaxy Black got away from feeding him the ball, which stunted his impact on the offensive end. OFW Galaxy Black was able to cut the score of the game back to within 5 with 2 minutes left to go but came up short and started to foul more than they should have. Ohio C2K – Thunder hit the majority of their free throws and that was essentially game. Hopefully, this game proves to be a game that OFW Galaxy Black can learn a lot from and continue to grow and compete as a team and hone in on some of their mistakes and improve upon them.
