Florida Top Performers from Bob Gibbons TOC Part II
The Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions is one of the longest running events in the country and the state of Florida had some firepower down just outside of Atlanta, Georgia this past weekend. Let's take a look at who stood out from the sunshine state.
Abdullahi is a bouncy prospect that thrives on the defensive end. He understands how to play vertically, avoiding fouls, and goes hard on the boards. Offensively, he was effective playing above the rim. He was a big time lob threat which really showed how powerful of an athlete he can be. Abdullahi is a big force to reckon with when he puts his head down and gets downhill. Defenders were left on their heels with no option but to foul. More times than not, Abdullahi finished those drives through contact for and-one opportunities. - Brianna Patton
Bureau had a coming out party of sorts during Bob Gibbons weekend. He was one of the most consistent players for Florida Pro during its run to the championship game where they fell just short. Bureau made multiple big time plays in pivotal moments of games throughout the weekend. He had a ridiculous chase down block down the stretch against Griffin Elite that helped save the game. He also showed his ability to run the show in transition, connecting with De’Shayne Montgomery on a few lobs. Bureau showed he can get it going from three, too. - Brianna Patton
Cooper had a solid weekend at Gibbons. The TNBA South big man put together some of the most complete performances we have seen from him thus far on our stage. He came close to getting a double-double in 3 of their 4 games. At 6-foot-7, he really asserted himself in the paint, especially on the boards. He also showed the most patience in the low post that I’ve seen out of him this travel season. Cooper was able to capitalize on some good looks around the rim, showing his improved touch. - Brianna Patton
Edouard is another player I tabbed on my players to watch list entering Gibbons weekend. One of the highest scoring guards in the HSA, this kid continues to put up big numbers. At 6-foot-3, he can create off the dribble and get to open spots, but he really does most of his scoring work with jump shots. Edouard can get hot in a hurry, and he is tough to maintain once he gets going. He oozes with confidence and plays with a ton of passion. - Brianna Patton
