Stop number two of the HoopSeen road trip was for the Nike EYBL Circuit in Lexington, KY. With a ton of talent in the building, it took some special efforts to be singled out as a top performer. Here are a few guys that really stood out:

Alterique Gilbert, CP3, 2016

The HoopSeen staff is more than familiar with Gilbert, so it was no surprise that he performed at the level that he did. Gilbert was fantastic in every facet of the game. He shot it well from deep, scored by getting to the basket, got into the paint and distributed to teammates, and played with high energy. However, where Gilbert shined today was on the defensive end of the floor, where he applied the clamps to opposing guards. 

Trae Young, Mokan Elite, 2017

Young is a very unassuming guard when he steps on the floor, but don’t let that fool you, he is an absolute terror for opposing defenses. He has a complete game and can do everything that a collegiate level guard should be able to do. He shot it extremely well from three, handled it strong, and distributed the ball well. Opponents tried everything they could to keep him from getting touches, but he continued working his way open and knocking down shots. 

John Petty, Alabama Challenge, 2017

After hearing a lot of great things about Petty, the HoopSeen staff knew to have close eyes on the 2017 Huntsville guard, which turned out to be a great decision. Petty is a big combo guard with a lot of athleticism, who can fill it up in multiple ways on the offensive end. He shot it well today at the EYBL and attacked the rim relentlessly. High majors in the southeast should have their eyes all over him, as well as the other impressive 2017 players for the Alabama Challenge. 

Kostas Antetokounmpo, Playground Elite, 2016

The Antetokounmpo bloodline is strong. The next in line is Kostas, who plays for Playground Elite and Dominican (WI). Perhaps a player with one of the highest ceilings of any prospect in the 2016 class, as he possesses a ton of size and length and a great skill set at only 16 years old. The Greek Freak’s brother is a high-energy player who shows the ability to put the ball on the floor and finish well above the rim. He could be a player that shoots up the national rankings very soon.
