Classic City Ballers Blue Win the 2022 Bob Gibbons 16U Orange Bracket
SUWANEE—In the first championship game of the 2022 Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions, Classic City Ballers Blue beat KA Nightmares, 57-56, thanks in part to 20 points, including four 3-pointers, from Grant Smith.
Going into the game, neither team faced much adversity, as they both cruised to the Orange Bracket final by winning all of their games by double figures. The bout between the bracket’s titans lived up to expectations.
After a closely-contested, back-and-forth first half, Classic City Ballers Blue took a 30-27 lead into halftime and delivered the first blow in the second stanza. Unwilling to go out quietly, the KA Nightmares responded every time Classic City Ballers threatened separation.
With their ability to answer Classic City Ballers runs, and keep the game close, the KA Nightmares seized the lead midway through the second half. However, the Classic City Ballers had one more gust of energy in them to close the game out.
In addition to Grant Smith’s 20 points, Mason Smith scored 14.
For KA Nightmares, Aramys Rodriguez led the way with 20 points.
