#ATLJAM Top 15U performers
The underclassmen at the Atlanta Jam was jam-packed with talented players in the 2018 class. Our staff had a chance to see a good number of 15 and under players. Here are the players that we saw and we liked at the #ATLJAM.
Jalen Butler - JB
Garrett Tucker - GT
Carter Wilson - CW
Maudet Akec, PF, Florida Sons: A tall and long prospect, it was easy to assume that Akec would get it done in the paint, which he did. But he also shined on the perimeter. On defense, he was able to defend smaller guards, moving very well and keeping them in front. He also thrived in transition, being able to handle the ball and finish above the rim. He is definitely a name to remember for the next couple years. - CW
KJ Buffen, F, North Georgia Elite: The Gainseville forward is one of the more versatile players in Georgia’s class of 2018. He used his 6-foot-6 frame to finish around the basketball consistently, but he also has the ability to score from the perimeter. He continued his consistent play at the ATL Jam. Buffen is a player that Division 1 schools should be tracking immediately. - JB
Duncan DeMuth, 2018 PF, Florida Elite Clearwater: it's hard to find skilled big men at a young age, so DeMuth was a nice breath of fresh air. The 6-foot-6 power forward is very skilled and can play on the perimeter. His team’s offense revolves around a Princeton style attack and it was perfect for the big man to display his passing skills. He hit several of his teammates for easy layups because of his vision and precision. DeMuth also showed he is a dangerous mid-range shooter. This Florida prospect will be one to monitor over the years. - GT
Trevon Faulkner, 2018 SG, Lexington Future: Faulkner was one of the most dangerous players on the offensive end in the 15U division. The 6-foot-4 shooting guard has great length and size for a 2 guard at the next level. He can score at all three levels with ease, but he does most of his damage at the free throw line. Faulkner is savvy with his game and understands how to draw fouls. It's still early, but the lefty will be one of the best prospects Kentucky has to offer in 2018. - GT
Cortez Love, 2018 PF, Da House: Love isn't the best player on his team, but he's that one guy that every coach loves to have: a high motor, glue guy that will do anything you ask. That describes the Mississippi forward in a nutshell. Love, a 6-foot-2 forward, set the tone for Da House in their championship run. He always plays hard and rebounds at a high rate. Love also did an outstanding job of defending throughout the weekend. If it wasn't for him, Da House probably wouldn't have came away with the trophy in the 15U division. - GT
Justin Mitchell, 2018 WF, Lexington Future: Mitchell is still a work in progress, but I like what I saw from the freshman wing. He has good size at 6-foot-3 and can rebound and defend. The majority of his offensive game is putting the ball on the floor and attacking the rim, but he has a ton of room to grow and improve his skills. Mitchell is a high upside guy that college coaches will want to track in the future. - GT
Robert Woodard, SF, Lighthouse: Woodard's reputation showed in the roster before a game was even played as he was listed as a guard, forward, and center. And he lived up to that for The Lighthouse at Atlanta Jam. Woodard was a man amongst boys, dominating on the interior and on the glass while also showcasing a great perimeter game and ball handling ability. He was the real deal and showed a very complete and well rounded game. High majors, look out. - CW
