GHSA Girls Final 4 Preview 7A-6A

The #MarchtoMacon has not disappointed. The Final Four kicks off tomorrow and it has been a fun ride. There have been some upsets and surprises, but only one team will reign supreme. I must admit I did not fare well in my original Final Four picks, but we are here nonetheless. I'll kick it off my previewing the 7A and 6A Final Four matchups.

Campbell vs Norcross - Friday March 4th 6pm @ Buford City Arena

Norcross enters this game after taking down Brookwood, one of the favorites to win it all. Campbell is here after beating a good Cherokee team. Both of these teams have been battled throughout the season and in the playoffs. Let's take a look at Norcross first. DePaul signee Zaria Hurston had 23 points and 13 boards in their big win in the Elite Eight. Hurston is an athletic forward that is very versatile. She plays with a high motor on both ends. The Blue Devils also hoist sophomore Jania Akins who is a promising young guard. She poured in 28 points in the Elite Eight win. Campbell on the other hand has proven they have a ton of depth. Region player of the year Nia Bozeman has been huge for Campbell throughout the post season. Fellow guards Laila Battle and North Florida commit Sarah Taub have also been instrumental. The Spartans play with a lot of grit, and will look to continue that against Norcross. If Campbell can contain Hurston, they have a real shot to win it.

Harrison vs Archer - Saturday March 5th 6pm @ Buford City Arena

Harrison comes into this one after upsetting Grayson in the Elite Eight while Archer knocked out Pebblebrook. Harrison is a very good 3-point shooting team. They have a lot of success knocking down those perimeter shots and getting to the FT line. Archer is a physical team that likes to bang inside and play solid defense. The Tigers are typically known as a quick, athletic team, and this year's squad is no different. They will rely heavily on junior center Taniya McGowan to hold down the boards and the protect the paint. Harrison will look to continue their hot shooting led by region POY Anna Gernatt

Rockdale County vs Lovejoy - Saturday March 5th 2pm @ West Georgia

First, let me shoutout my alma mater; those Rockdale County Lady Dawgs! I am so proud of the success they continue to have under Coach Turley. The Bulldogs had to overcome a double-digit deficit on the road vs Brunswick to make it to this game. Back-to-back region player of the year Danielle Carnegie, is one of the best sophomores in the country. Brunswick simply did not have an answer for her. Lovejoy is not new to this stage. The Wildcats took care of business against River Ridge to reach this game. Sophomore Bryanna Preston is one of the top PGs in the state. She does a good job of controlling the tempo and gets to her spots with ease. It will be fun watching the two sophomores going head-to-head. Lovejoy has a lot of depth with Preston, La'nya Foster, and senior Layla Hood. Many considered them the favorites to win 6A and they are two games away from doing so. Rockdale will need big games from both Carnegie and Leah Edwards

Kell vs Sequoyah - Saturday March 5th 6pm @ West Georgia

The Lady Longhorns are here after taking down Rome and Sequoyah after beating Bradwell Institute in the Elite Eight. Sequoyah will be one of the best teams that Kell has faced all season. They have strong guard play and can really light it up from the perimeter. Kell will rely heavily on the scoring of junior guard Crystal Henderson, who is one of the top scorers in the state. Amaya Moss will need to be big in this game in terms of scoring and her impact on the defensive end. Jada Peterson will also need to have a solid performance as she has done throughout the season. Sequoyah has a really good group of guards led by junior Elle Blatchford who shot lights out in their Elite Eight win. The Chiefs boast a lot of depth with players such as A'ryn Jackson, Susana Rodgers, and Shelby Belanger. It may end up being a shootout between Blatchford and Henderson.
