Big spring awaits for Okeke
His name is spelled:
C-H-U-M-A
O-K-E-K-E
Get used to spelling it out. Five vowels. Five consonants. It is that simple. If you are a hardcore hoop head in Georgia and like to keep up with the top up-and-comers, Chuma Okeke's name will be typed out time and time again.
The class of 2017 forward had a monster high school season at Langston Hughes, helping his squad win 21 games and averaged 22.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.9 steals and 1.7 blocks a game. Okeke was our Sophomore of the Year in AAAAAA and a no-brainer all-state selection. /node/881
At the Elite Preview, Okeke shined in his match-ups with comparable talent. He showed off his range as an offensive scorer, hitting three-pointers and elbow jumpers. As a defender, he's incredibly long and a problem for opposing big men on the low blocks.
Inside and out, Okeke is one of the toughest players to guard in Georgia. By our view, he is one of Georgia's top five prospects in the class of 2017.
Several college coaches agree. Florida State has offered a verbal scholarship while Clemson, George Mason (old staff), Middle Tennessee State, UAB, Virginia and Xavier have all shown various amounts of interest.
Interestingly enough, Okeke left Langston Hughes this week and transferred to rival Westlake. He will play for the Georgia Stars 16U team coached by Ryan Lewis.
