Elite Preview Camp Team 5 Breakdown
Karris Bilal: Bilal was in the conversation as one of the best pure scorers in the building. He’s a crafty guard who utilizes a nice step back jumper and is a strong finisher around the basket. If you’re in need of a flurry of points, Bilal is a guy to give the ball to without a doubt. - Josh Tec
Jude Ellis: Ellis is as pure of a point guard as there is. He’s got all of the tools to run the show efficiently. Ellis is steady and unflappable with the ball in his hands, and he’s a smart playmaker. He shares the ball extremely well and always has his eyes peeled for open teammates. He’s the kind of guard who coaches love to coach and teammates love to play with. - Josh Tec
Jabez Jenkins: Jenkins was described as being able to get into the lane “at will”. He has a long, athletic frame that he uses to impact the game on both ends. With his length and skill set, he has the potential to make a big impact as a two-way player. Practicing against the loaded 2023 group at Newton will only make him better.
Cole Kirouac: Kirouac immediately commanded attention and had people flipping through their rosters looking for more information on him as soon as he stepped in the building. The 6-foot-8 forward has the size and length to turn heads, and he has a skillful foundation to back it up. He utilizes his mobility and length well on defense to cause havoc on that end. On the other side, he showed an ability to knock down shots from the outside and use his size well around the basket. The North Forsyth sophomore used this platform to etch his name in the notebooks of several coaches and scouts. - Josh Tec
Mekhi Nelson: Nelson was one of the quickest guards in attendance. His on ball defense was stellar as well. At 5-foot-11, he is not the biggest guard on the floor, but he showed his ability to finish atop taller defenders.
Julian Ormond - At 6-foot-4, Ormond showed off his versatility out on the wing. He can knock down jumpers on the perimeter and penetrate the teeth of the defense to get to the rim. Once inside the lane, he demonstrated that he can make the correct reads on whether to go score it or kick it out to an open shooter. He played with a ton of confidence throughout the day.
Cannon Richards - Roberts has a big, strong frame that he can use to play a little bully ball. He’s physical and dominant on the glass, and his strength is a problem when he gets the ball around the rim where he’s a good finisher. Richards is a strong defender who protects the paint and can block his fair share of shots. - Josh Tec
