Fastbreak Friday: September closes out with major visits across the country

The recruiting board for the class of 2022 continues to shrink as more players are taking visits and gathering information to make a collegiate decision. This weekend frames a storyline that could mean even more decisions by the end of the weekend and into early next week. In this week’s Fastbreak Friday, let’s take a look at some of the visits of note.

ACC

Chicago forward AJ Casey is the latest out of area prospect to make his way south and see Miami for an official visit. The 6-foot-8 forward released a list of schools over a month ago and Miami wasn't on it. However, the Hurricanes recently offered at the start of September and now get him on a visit.

Virginia Tech has been active on the recruiting front this fall and looking for a guard. After the heels of a good visit and then commitment from big man Patrick Wessler, Memphis point guard Chandler Jackson will make his official visit to Blacksburg this weekend.

Georgia Tech will play host to forward Ven Allen Lubin out of Florida. He’s a hot target in the league and will be a major player for the Yellow Jackets to win over on the visit this weekend in midtown Atlanta.

Syracuse has an important 1-2 punch coming to campus for the weekend. Wasatch Academy wing Chris Bunch and big man Peter Carey of Northfield Mount Hermon.

Florida State continues to hunt for size and they like what they see in North Carolina big man De’Ante Green. The 6-foot-9 forward from Asheville will make his way to Tallahassee for a peek. Ohio SG Tom House, one of the bigger national sleepers, will also be in town.

Minnesota forward Prince Aligbe will take a trip to Boston College for an official visit.

Big 12

Oklahoma will play host to Brendan Hausen for an official visit. His recruitment is all over the country. The Amarillo, TX guard has been to Villanova already and will go to Oregon and Texas Tech.

Baltimore area guard Bryce Lindsay will make an official visit to Oklahoma State this weekend.

Texas Tech continues to mine the home state prospect fields and will bring in Dallas area guard Chauncey Gibson for an official visit this weekend.

Big Ten

Michigan has an important weekend on tap as two important big men come to town for an official visit. Dream City Christian (AZ) forward Yohan Traore will make a trip to Ann Arbor to see what the Wolverines are all about. He’s the biggest riser of the summer travel season. He’s one of the most wanted men on the recruiting board nationally. Traore checks in at No. 23 in our class of 2022 national rankings.

He’ll be joined by Link Year Prep big man Tarris Reed. The 6-foot-9 forward is committed to the Wolverines.

Pac-12

Colin Chandler will make a visit to Stanford, a key target for the Cardinal. He was on the campus of BYU last weekend for the big football win over Utah. Chandler is one of the best players in the West and one of the most under-valued prospects nationally. We have Chandler rated at No. 26 overall in the nation.

Arizona State gets Texan TJ Caldwell on campus for a visit this weekend. The 6-foot-5 guard has also been to Ole Miss officially.

SEC

After Mike White and staff came to Arizona to see Chance Westry at Hillcrest Prep, the top 40 national prospect will make the cross-country trip to Gainesville for an official visit. Westry is one of the most impressive guard prospects nationally that is still on the big board for the class of 2022. Auburn is also a player here for the 6-foot-5 guard.

Alabama has a huge weekend on tap with Nashville area wing Brandon Miller coming into Tuscaloosa. He’ll be joined by South Carolina native Noah Clowney, who is also in town for an official visit. The duo mark two of the most impressive prospects in the nation at the same place for a visit this weekend. Miller could be a preps-to-pros option while Clowney remains one of the most coveted big men in the Southeast.

Link Year (MO) forward Julian Phillips will make his way to Knoxville, Tennessee to see the Vols up close and personal.

South Carolina The final trip of the visit tour is happening this weekend for Arizona forward Elijah Saunders. He’s been active across the country for trips and has gone back to the East Coast several times over the last couple of months. The Gamecocks have the final shot with him on the visit platform.

OTHER NOTABLES

UNLV brings home Vegas native Milos Uzan for an official visit. You could argue the visit is one of the three most important ones of the weekend. He is now at Dream City Christian in Arizona but grew up less than 10 miles from UNLV’s campus.

Bouncy Texas native Jordan Walsh will make his way to Memphis for an official visit. He's been busy this summer and fall, taking trips to TCU, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Arizona State and Texas.

Braden Huff, one of the more skilled big men int eh class of 2022 nationally, will make a visit to Gonzaga this weekend. The Chicagoland post is a key target for Mark Few and staff.

Cincinnati has big target Josh Reed in town for an official visit this weekend. The Atlanta (GA) Pace Academy wing is a major priority for the Bearcats.

St. Mary’s landed an important commitment last weekend from Aidan Mahaney and this weekend another top target comes back to town as Miles Byrd makes the quick trip to campus from his NorCal home. Big target for the Gaels.

Colorado State will play host to Idaho guard Jack Payne for an official visit. He was one of the big blow up guys from the Section 7 team camp back in June.
