Saint Francis repeats in A-Private
It was a game that hoop heads pointed to all year in A-Private. The Saint Francis-Greenforest matchup provided fireworks in the form of a number of Division I prospects.
The storyline in this one was the same familiar faces that we have come to know for Saint Francis.
Those faces are that of Kobi Simmons, Malik Beasley, and Kaiser Gates. And they got out to a very fast start in this one.
The Saint Francis trio put on a dunk fest in the early going, getting in transition and often assisting each other on a number of early throwdowns.
The Knights got out to a lead and fought to keep it in place for the entirety of the game.
That fight did not come easy, however. The Greenforest backcourt put together a number of rallies behind huge efforts from John Ogwuche, Justin Ravenel, and Justin Forrest.
Despite those rallies, Saint Francis always had an answer, usually coming in the form of a bucket or big play from Simmons, Beasley, or Gates.
Those responses from the Knights allowed them to keep the lead for nearly the entire game en route to a 96-81 win.
Kobi Simmons led Saint Francis with 27 points, and Kaiser Gates and Malik Beasley added 23 points apiece.
In the loss for Greenforest, John Ogwuche led the way with 28 points.
