Memphis Grizzlies standout Ja Morant is from the outskirts of the city, New Orleans Pelicans' Zion Williamson was born an hour away in Florence, South Carolina, long-time NBA player Jermaine O'Neal is from the heart of Columbia, former NBA player Alex English hails from the city, Wake Forest assistant coach BJ McKie is a Columbia native and is South Carolina's all-time leading scorer.
