Fastbreak Friday: A major 5-star visitor takes in an HBCU
Fastbreak Friday is back and we examine the busy weekend visitors from across the country. We explore the wide-scale view of all of the visits of note on the basketball recruiting front for college basketball. After a year off, the visit season is set for a major impact on the entire recruiting community. Let's dive right into it.
VISITOR OF THE WEEKEND: Chris Livingston
Each and every week we will highlight the most important visitor on a college campus. This week's choice was an easy one.
Chris Livingston is taking a visit to Tennessee State this weekend. That's major news. Major, major news. The 6-foot-6 wing from Akron, Ohio is currently our No. 6 overall player in the class of 2022 nationally. He is the highest-rated player to ever visit Tennessee State and one of the premier players to ever visit an HBCU.
To give some context, Livingston has already taken a visit to Kansas, Kentucky and Georgetown already and will visit Memphis in September.
Why is this visit so important other than the obvious? We talked about it in this week’s edition of Just a Minute. Austin Smith and I discuss why his visit is much bigger than the talent level that Livingston is.
MORE NOTABLE VISITORS
The visit list isn't too deep for the weekend but there are a couple of notable prospects to keep an eye on. Georgia Tech is scheduled to have Florida point guard Denzel Aberdeen on campus. He's one of the biggest risers from the summer and one of the hottest floor generals in the class of 2022 at the moment. His fall visit tour also includes stops at Oklahoma and Florida.
If you're looking for a player that could potentially commit, keep your eyes on Pharrel Payne. The 6-foot-9 big man is taking an official visit to his in-state school. His high school teammate Braeden Carrington recently pledged to the Gophers. The duo plays at Park Center. Minnesota is the only high-major school that has offered Payne a scholarship so far.
