15U Georgia Cup III Championship
15 AND UNDER: Atlanta Allstars South 64, Georgia Jayhawks Legacy
The Atlanta Allstars South were able to pull away late from a tough Jayhawks team to secure the 15U championship. The first half of this game was some of the most intense basketball I have seen this weekend. These two teams were flat out going at it. The Jayhawks held a 26-23 lead at the half.
The Allstars turned it on in the second half thanks to the play of Ernesto Almonte and Wheeler Drake. These two are extremely fun to watch and will end up being sought after players in Georgia's 2024 class. Almonte is a monster on the boards. He went after every single rebound and blocked a ton of shots. Drake is a great lead guard that shows a really good understanding for the game. The duo combined for 34 points and were ultimately the difference in the second half turn around.
The Jayhawks did not make it easy, though. This is a team with a good number of prospects to keep an eye on. Nile King had a big time performance finishing with 16 points. His activity level on both ends got his team back in the game. Nicholas Haley finished with 19 points and Jason Isaac had 10.
