Bama Jam 17U Orange Championship
17U Orange Bracket Championship: Tennessee Tigers 73, BHA 50
The Tennessee Tigers capped off its dominant weekend with another dominant performance in the championship game. The Tigers led from start to finish and left no doubt who the best team on the floor was.
Good ball movement and strong defense was the story for the Tigers as they were able to capitalize off of turnovers. Each player on the floor played with active hands and were able to get their hands on loose balls. Using their defense to turn into easy points, the Tigers scored 18 points in the final five minutes of the half to take a 37-21 lead into halftime. The second half was no different than the first as they put on another scoring clinic and locked down on defense to stop a BHA run at the beginning of the half.
This group of guards has impressed all weekend and this game was more of the same. Paxton Davidson and Evan Shiflet scored 12 each and Yerald Mieses added 11. Mieses was the MVP of the game. His ability to control the offense and create for himself was fun to watch. Big man David Craig also added 12 points. At 7-foot-1, the junior is a sight to see. His sheer size alone stands out immediately. Craig had a ton of success out of the PnR, finished around the rim, and altered just about every shot that came his way. While Zaron Jackson of BHA was aggressive and did what he could do keep the game competitive, the Tigers ultimately had too much firepower.
