Next Gen Jam 11U & 12U championship stories

Several quality middle school programs gathered at Suwanee Sports Academy for their chance to kick off their 2021 season. There were twists and turns and a few upsets along the way as the stars of tomorrow performed at a very high level. Our championship games were full of fireworks that our staff has recapped below.

11 AND UNDER: Team Huncho 2028 38, TSF Mack 2028 31

Team Huncho 2028 got the best of TSF Mack 2028 in a closely-contested championship game. Team Huncho jumped out to an early lead, but TSF fought hard and never let Team Huncho pull away. It was a 3-point game in favor of Team Huncho at halftime, and it remained around that margin for much of the second half. It was towards the end of the game when they were able to gain their 7-point margin.

TSF put on terrific showings in their games on Sunday. In the Championship game, they were led by Calvin Goss, who scored 16 points.

Bleu Lewis showcased his offensive prowess throughout the day, and he capped it off by leading his team in their championship win. Lewis scored 12 for Team Huncho.

12 AND UNDER: San Diego Prospects 58, Team Power 2027 55

The San Diego Prospects won their second championship of the evening, as the 12 and under team secured a thrilling win over Team Power 2027, 58-55.

An early 5-0 run gave Team Power a lead, but it was immediately countered by a 7-0 run from the Prospects. This exchange set the tone for the back-and-forth affair that the game devolved into.

Team Power gained the slightest bit of separation and took a 6-point lead to halftime, but the Prospects came out of the break hot and regained the lead.

After the Prospects’ 13 U team won their championship game, they came over to support the 12 U team, and helped create a boisterous atmosphere to close the evening’s final game.

Team Power’s Dooney Johnson connected from deep to tie the game late. Johnson’s shot was answered by a Dax Hall layup to put the Prospects back on top for a lead they wouldn’t relinquish again.

AJ Williams and Dooney Johnson led the way for Team Power. Williams scored 15, and Johnson scored 13, including a pair of clutch 3-pointers.

Earl Taylor helped the Prospects to victory by scoring 9 points.
