HoopSeen Player Profile : Micah Handlogten
As the old adage goes, you can't teach size and Micah Handlogten has the size at 7-foot. The Southlake (NC) Christian standout has seen his recruitment rise over the past few months and HoopSeen had the chance to catch up with the big man this week.
Basketball runs in the Handlogten family. His father, Ben Handlogten was a standout at Western Michigan University and spent some times playing professionally overseas before his stint with the Utah Jazz from 2003-2005. "He pretty much taught me everything I know today. He taught me how to handle myself and read defenders in the post and to rebound with authority. He showed me that I need to be the most aggressive player on the floor and I need to hustle after every loose ball and rebound."
Earlier this season, Handlogten went for 26 points, 21 rebounds and 6 blocks against Calvary Day and he scored 17 points and grabbed 9 rebounds against NCISAA power Northside Christian in a one-point loss.
At this point, the class of 2022 center has recently heard from Michigan, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Notre Dame, Liberty, Davidson, High Point, Princeton, Georgia Southern, Mount St. Mary's, Appalachian State, Brown, Winthrop and Furman. To date his only offer so far is from Emory and Henry.
Handlogten is going to be a player to track over the course of the next two seasons and he spent this past travel season playing with Upward Stars 704 program.
