Offers coming in for Moore

Looking back at the Hilton Invitational, there may not have been a tougher competitor in the field than that of Montrose Christian (MD) point guard Alani Moore.

The 5-foot-9 junior point guard put on a second half show against Covenant Christian (GA) and helped spark his team to a victory with speed, scoring and poise.

"First half I wasn't playing well. I was rushing shots. I came out in the second half a lot more calm with a lot more composure," Moore said. "I started taking it to the rim and doing different things. I blasted up from there."

He's been blasting all season long, helping Montrose rack up wins week after week. Part of his success comes from the drive with the thought that the end is getting closer and closer at the prep level.

"I'm on dog mode right now. This is about to be my last summer and then my last season in high school. My mom keeps reminding me this is my last junior year," Moore said. "This will be my last AAU season. So, I have to go all out."

A number of schools have seen that drive, too. Penn State, Rhode Island, Towson, High Point and UMass have all offered a scholarship. SMU and Tennessee are also interested, he said.

What's he looking for in a potential school?

"I want to play as a freshman and play in system that's more up and down. I want to play for a good coach that lets you do what I can do best," Moore said. "I want to go away. I've been talking to my mom about that. I am trying to get away from Maryland and the DMV area."
