Elite Preview, Team 2 Evaluations
Suwanee, GA -Our HoopSeen Elite Preview was held this past Sunday with loads of talent from the region in the 2023 and 2024 classes. Here are our evaluations from Team 2 from the camp.
MJ Marable, 2024, G, George Walton Academy (GA) - Marable showed a strong ability to attack the paint off the dribble. Does a good job of finding seams in the defense and using cuts to the basket to get the easy score. Plays with a high basketball IQ and has quick hands on the defensive end, coming up with multiple steals.
Tyson Sexton, 2023, G, Scottsboro HS (AL) - The sophomore guard was impressive in transition, making some tough finishes at the rim. The 6-foot-4 guard has the length to cause problems on defense by getting deflections and his hands in the passing lanes which led to turnovers. Overall, Sexton was a productive floor-leader throughout the day.
Jaquez Akins, 2023, SG, Forest Park HS (GA) - Physical guard with a strong upper-body that he uses to bully down smaller guards and get into the paint. Broad shouldered guard that sees the floor well and can facilitate the offense. Vocal leader out on the floor making sure everyone is where they need to be. Explosive guard that really takes off from the floor when attacking the rim.
Tyson Jones, 2023, SF, Evans HS (GA) - Long and lanky forward that gets off the floor in a hurry and has good timing as a rebounder and a shot-blocker. At 6-foot-7, Jones is still growing and has the tools to be a productive high school player over the next three seasons.
Dayton Richardson, 2023, SF, - Showed he can step-out and knock down some shots from the outside. The 6-foot-6 small forward is able to get baskets in the paint and can score from the perimeter. He looks comfortable out on the wing while showing he can put the ball on the floor and get to where he wants with his size.
Justin Mitchell, 2024, G, Norcross HS (GA) - Very vocal guard who really understands the importance of communication out on the floor. He has a high basketball IQ and understood how to create space on within the offense in this individual camp setting. Another good prospect coming up through the Norcross HS pipeline outside of Atlanta.
Colby Williams, 2023, F, Meadowcreek HS (GA) - The 6-foot-6 forward was one of the better defenders at the camp throughout the day. His length caused problems for the offense and was able to get his hands on some passes that resulted in turnovers. His length also led to shot selection changes for the offense.
Mari Jordan, 2024, SF, Dacula HS (GA) - Jordan is an athletic wing that can score from all spots on the floor. He scored a lot of his baskets on turnovers and just being the lead player down the floor in transition. He has a good motor and at 6-foot-6, he can finish easier over smaller defenders on the floor.
Jamir Russell, 2024, G, Salem HS (GA) - Impressive showing from the freshman out of Lawrenceville, Georgia. Very athletic lead guard that made the right passes and got into the paint on multiple occasions. Russell has a high basketball IQ and understanding of the game.
