Alabama Preview Camp: Team 4 Breakdown

Our Alabama Preview camp is in the books as we hosted 80 players at the Supreme Courts in Guntersville, Alabama. After rounding up the evaluations from our coaches and staff, here is our team 4 breakdown.

Gabe Davenport, 2024 G, Page: Davenports ability to pick up full court and turn ball handlers helped his team turn defense to offense. Given his ability to harass players up the court, teams would start to pass away from him when threatened with his full court defense. On the other end, Davenports high IQ play shined through as he got the offense into some organized positions to score the ball. When left open he cashed in his opportunities but it was his use of floaters that caught our attention.

Chadan Hamilton, 2023 G, Boaz: One of the better three point shooters in the gym used his shooting to open up the floor for himself and others. Every attempted seemed on the mark as his his textbook jumper was picture perfect. After hitting a few from the outside, Hamilton attacked the defense by getting to his mid range jumper. Hamilton solidified himself as a solid two way prospects as a pair of quick feet helped him cover a ton of ground. His knowledge of defensive positioning was also useful when rotating behind his teammates.

Drake James, 2023 G, Haleyville: James used his strength to affectively finish at the rim after slashing his way through the defense. His smooth and silky handle would help him drive past defenders and once at the rim his power would take over. Scoring at every level seemed natural as he always had an answer for the way his defender was guarding him. As he develops over time, James could be one of the better scorers in Alabama's 2023 class. His shot blocking and ability to guard different positions was the ultimate cherry on top.

Crews Proctor, 2021 G, Sylacauga: With ideal size at 6 foot 2, Crews Proctor did a great job at using his tools to his advantage. With a wide range of abilities he excels as a playmaker that can squeeze the juice out of his possessions. With a rangy wingspan he was able to get a number of deflections and turn his defense into offense. Proctors firm grasp of the offense was evident through his ability to never turn the ball over.

Tamarius Wiggins, 2021 G, Monroe County: There weren't very many places on the court that Tamarius Wiggins couldn't get off a quality shots at. At this point he understands how to pick his spots and ultimately take the game over with his scoring. As a spark plug he was able to get his teammates to up their energy and create havoc on the defensive end of the ball. Even as a rebounder he was able to snatch some down and battle with players that may of had a size advantage. Overall it was a solid showing from the Monroe County guard.

Knute Wood, 2022 G, Brooks: As an offensive threat there weren't very many players better than Brooks guard Knute Wood. With great size and skill and wiggled his way through defenders en route to some crafty finishes at the rim. As pure of a scorer as they come, Wood was relentless in his ability to attack the teeth of the defense. So much of his scoring ability seems to translate well to the next level.

Jacob St. Clair, 2023 CG, Sand Rock: With deep range on his three ball and the confidence to take it, making shots came easy for the Sand Rock sophomore. Although he did not get a ton of opportunites to take his shot, he made the most of them with his very efficient play.  Moving without the ball, setting screens for others, and staying patient led to him be the benefactor of some wide open chances. Some of St. Clair's mistakes can be blamed on his in experience but his talent far out weighed at mishaps. There's an opportunity to see him blossom into one of the better shooters at our camp down the line.
