Darryl LaBarrie's top performers from the Alabama Preview camp, part II

While our first two groups of top performers have been announced, our camp director, Darryl LaBarrie, offered up his take on a few eye catchers. Here’s part II of LaBarrie’s top performer’s.

Nathan Johns, Jemison, 2021 Forward: Nathan is long and sneaky athletic at the rim. He will get out and run in transition and has the ability to put the ball on the floor for a couple of dribbles to make a play. He stepped out and made multiple 3’s throughout the day and played with a lot of energy.

Parker Henry, West Lauderdale, 2022 Center: Parker is tall and thin but has very good footwork and a couple of post moves that he is comfortable with around the rim. He understands spacing and moving on the baseline when his teammates drive to give them space to make a play while also providing a passing lane for him to catch and finish if they drop it off. He rebounds and has pretty good hands for catching the ball in traffic. When he gets stronger and more comfortable in crowds he has the potential to surprise a lot of people. He can shoot the ball out to 3-point range and has a really nice touch around the rim as well. Division 1’s should be tracking him and Division 2’s should try to get him to commit immediately.

Izzy Miles, Grissom, 2022 Combo guard: Izzy is wired to score and has really good footwork and showed a great use of pivots and shot fakes in the paint. He has a nice mid-range game and shoots the ball with confidence. He will stick his nose in there and rebound the ball and is a solid athlete as well.

Avaughn Johnson, Murrah 2022 Forward: Avaughn is a long, thin lefty that excels on the glass. He has a knack for the ball on the offensive and defensive glass and rebounding is a skill that translates to the next level and is very impactful when it comes to winning. Once he gets stronger and learns to focus and concentrate on finishing layups when he gets contact at the rim he has a chance to be a very good player.

Temarius Wiggins,Monroe County, 2021 Wing: Temarius is a confident scorer who understands how to use shot fakes around the rim to create angles and advantages to score. You can tell that he has been coached well and that he has a feel for the game. He has a crafty handle and can beat his defender in one on one situations to get to his spots to score. He’s not a tall guard but he has a strong body and was great on the offensive glass and around the rim
