12U Georgia Cup Summer League Champions: Promise Elite
Promise Elite beat BCB 2026 63-44 to win the 12 and under division of the 2020 Georgia Cup Summer League on Sunday at Suwanee Sports Academy.
Promise Elite was paced by Zion Miller, who scored a game-high 22 points in the title game.
The big-three of Zion Miller, Chance Delk, and Kamari Brown were big for Promise Elite in its championship win today. Miller is the lead guard for the team and he does everything. He can shoot it, get to the basket of the dribble, distribute, and defend. He had to have had at least four steals this morning. Delk does the dirty. He cleaned the glass on the defensive side and scored on put back opportunities on the offensive boards. He also ran the floor and got rewarded by Miller for an easy bucket. Delk finished with 10 points. Brown also had a great game. He scored 15 points including three 3-pointers. Brown seemed like a player that loves to play defense too which is hard to find at that age. He had a couple of steals that led to easy points in transition.
Despite the loss, BCB 2026 had some bright moments. In the first half they were able to keep it close by scoring off turnovers, but Promise Elite was too much in the second half. Overall, BCB is a well-balanced team. Bernard Watson has a great handle for his age and size. He had a couple of Iverson-like cross overs and used the pump fake to his advantage to get to the basket. He also made several flashy passes for easy buckets in the lane. Charlie Gersmehl was a monster on the boards. He was literally everywhere on both ends and provided a spark for BCB when they needed a quick score.
Both Promise Elite and BCB are great AAU programs that will continue to develop these young kids into better basketball players. The future is bright for both teams.
