With the ongoing pandemic, spring and summer recruiting has practically changed overnight in the college basketball world. Instead of getting to evaluate prospects in person, college coaches now depend on live-stream events and phone calls with contacts they trust. 

I've fielded plenty of calls the past few months about different prospects, but the most consistent name I have been asked about is 2021 Gardendale (AL) forward Jalon Moore. 

Moore, a long and athletic 6-foot-6 forward, piqued college coaches' interest in the spring when he was running with the Alabama Fusion. The rising senior impressed with his physical attributes, motor, and productivity in a handful of games for the Nike EYBL squad. 

Now after the Fusion elected to shut things down for the safety of everyone involved, Moore finds himself with one of Alabama's best independent programs, the Nike Elite Stars. His first weekend with the Elite Stars was last weekend at the Bama Jam. As expected, the hard-nosed prospect produced game after game. In fact, our Justin Young tabbed Moore as one of the best rebounders in the event.

Moore quickly earned scholarship offers from Detroit and Troy following the Bama Jam. They joined in-state programs Alabama State and Troy on his offer sheet. Murray State, Lipscomb, Tennessee State, Mississippi State, North Alabama, South Alabama, and Georgia Tech are among the programs showing interest. They all see the same thing in Moore.

"I think the coaches like me because I play hard. I have a motor that doesn't stop and I bring energy. I like to get out and run and I'm a really good finisher," Moore explained with his recent popularity. 

In the span of a few months, Moore has gone from unknown to priority for several college programs from the state of Alabama. He has high hopes for the rest of the travel season with the Nike Elite Stars.

"My goal for the rest of the travel season is to continue to get better and hopefully pick up some more college offers. This summer has been a blessing because I've been working so hard. To see the work paying off, it's really a blessing."
