Kalen Clifton: The Douglas County X-Factor
In Region 3-AAAAAA, it’s really easy to get caught up in the star power. The region has high major prospects and commits and signees to schools in conferences from the MEAC all the way up to the SEC and ACC.
One of the prospects that could emerge in the rest of this season and into the next is Douglas County 2016 guard Kalen Clifton.
Clifton is a guard with good size that is a little bit of a jack-of-all-trades on a basketball floor.
He has the ability to shoot it in the halfcourt as well as get to the rim, but Clifton really thrives in fast-paced, tough games with his abilities in transition and on the defensive end.
“I like to get out and run, where I can attack the basket. That is when I’m at my best. My teammates also make my job easy with their passing,” said Clifton.
Clifton is currently receiving interest from mid and low majors, after a good summer playing with the 16U Georgia Stars combined with his good work so far this season.
He will be an interesting one to watch for throughout the rest of the season and as the travel season begins in the spring.
It will be even more intriguing to watch his role expand in in his senior season next year, with Douglas County graduating key guards from their team.
Kalen Clifton might be a name to remember in the near future as an emerging prospect in Georgia’s class of 2016.
