We’ve updated our class of 2021 rankings for the state of Georgia. We’ve had a top 50 for a while but the list needed a refresh.

There are some new faces inside our top 20 but the top of the list remains relatively the same. The star power at the top - Jabari Smith and Mathew Cleveland - remain at the top of the stack. 

From there, there’s been some shakin’ and some jumpin’.

With the shutdown in place, the rankings remain on pause. We are actively evaluating tape from the high school season and doing a deeper dive on players from all corners of the Peach State. While video evaluations are key and they allow us to stop, rewind and rewatch, live evaluations remain, and will always be, the most weighted source of opinion for our team.

As soon as we have a green light on when to return back to some sense of normalcy, we will start our 2020 season. Regionalized hoops are more important than ever. We’re excited to see you back on the court, whenever that is. 

The here and now matters. The old adage of what have you done for me lately comes into play when evaluating a pool of prospects. These long high school seasons can produce several peaks and valleys Which in turn creates a ton of value in prospects that can consistently produce. 

As usual, the rankings list is a fluid one. They change weekly internally. We discuss and debate at a fervent clip. 

We get asked all the time, “what goes into a ranking?” and “how do you come up with them?”. Great questions. Ultimately, it is just subjective. You like who you like. There is a weighted projection to how we think the player will be in college - his value as a four-year player for a team. At the very top of rankings, the longest term vision for a player comes into play. Ultimately what is his ceiling? 

What player A did against player B rarely, if ever, comes into the thought process. This is an individual deep dive. Don’t agree with the rankings? That wouldn’t be the first time. Feel free to post your rankings online, on Twitter, wherever. 

Elijah Tucker (Cherokee) has jumped all the way up to No. 4 while Ryan Mutombo (Lovett) climbs to No. 5 overall in the state’s 2021 rankings. Cameron McDowell (McEachern) makes a strong climb into the top 10, at No. 8 overall. 

Wheeler’s Ja’heim Hudson makes an impressive debut at No. 16 overall. Andrew McConnell of Lanier and James White of Heritage, also newcomers to our rankings, make top 20 debuts. 

We only go to 50 for now and will likely expand once we get back into the gym.
