Hopkins adds two new offers
Offers are beginning to roll in for 2016 Huntsville (AL) J.O. Johnson forward Justin Hopkins. After some productive performances last week at the Steel City Invitational, the 6-foot-3 athlete picked up scholarship offers from Murray State and Samford.
“It feel great. I’m really blessed,” Hopkins told HoopSeen.com about his recent offers. “Murray State was really a surprise, but I thank God for everything.”
“I really like Murray State. I think it’s a great program. Samford is a great program and school too.”
Those two programs join Middle Tennessee State as the trio of offers for the junior; all three schools saw him at the Huntsville Times Classic following Christmas.
In fact, he helped the Jaguars capture the Huntsville Times Classic crown. The event pits the best schools in the Huntsville area against each other in bracket play. Johnson defeated James Clemens in the championship game Monday night.
With that and a runner-up finish at the Steel City, Johnson has played some of the state’s best teams and proved themselves. Hopkins has been a vital part of the team’s success this early in the season. His consistency and overall value is currently through the roof.
“The season is going great. I’ve been working on my perimeter game and all-around game. The team is doing great,” he explained.
Hopkins and Johnson now hope their tournament success translates to the post-season. They lost in the 4A state championship game last year, but they expect to make it there again this season, except leaving with the blue trophy this time.
