Elite Preview Team 2 Evals
The Georgia Elite Preview was jam-packed with talent and our staff looks back on each player at the invite-only camp. Here are the player breakdowns from Team 2.
JUSTIN BROWN, CG, MILTON HIGH SCHOOL, 2018: The Milton guard is extremely quick off the bounce and difficult to keep in front. Though he is a smaller guard, he is able to produce in bundles, both with his scoring and ability to find teammates. He is very good in the midrange, where he can create shots for himself as well as use his understanding of the game to make good reads out of ball screens. - Carter Wilson
KJ BUFFEN, SF, GAINESVILLE, 2018: An extremely intriguing player, Buffen is slowly asserting himself among Georgia’s best players in 2018’s class. He has valuable versatility to him that is rare to find, with size at 6-foot-5 and skills both on the interior and on the perimeter. He is at his best when he’s going to the rim and is becoming an extremely dangerous slasher with his finishing ability with both hands in the paint. - Carter Wilson
KENTON ESKRIDGE, CG, TUCKER, 2017: Eskridge showed that he can play both positions in the backcourt. He is a big guard with a good build that can change gears very quickly to take defenders off the bounce. He showed a preference and ability to score the ball from the perimeter, knocking down shots, including displaying a very effective step back jump shot in the midrange and from three. - Carter Wilson
DRUE DRINNON, CG, EAST JACKSON, 2018: One of the top guards in the camp, Drinnon shined in the drill stations and competitive games. The coaches challenged the guards in various situations and Drinnon graded out well across the board. Playing with control in speed, Drinnon scored well at the rim and on constant attacks to the iron. The 6-foot-2 guard can rack up the points in a hurry. He’s a constant threat to score in the paint and/or getting to the foul line. - Justin Young
ELIJAH JENKINS, SG, RIVERWOOD, 2017: The 6-foot-2 guard has value as a shooter and knows how and when to get open for buckets. He has a high basketball IQ and moved well without the ball to be in position for positive plays as a scorer and passer. - Justin Young
CHARLIE O’BRIANT, PF/SF, GACS, 2017: The long 6-foot-8 forward jumped right into the camp with great effort and purpose. He was good in our station work, shined as a shooter and played well in transition. Added strength will continue to help his versatility as an outside/inside forward. Overall, he’s working with a nice skill base to move into this final travel season. - Justin Young
DAMION ROSSER, SF, HENRY COUNTY, 2017: In this up and down camp setting, players like Rosser have a chance to really shine. The long and lanky 6-foot-5 wing played above the rim, shined in transition and had some great moments on the defensive end of the floor. Defensively, he’s a great shot-blocker for his position and plays at rim level. Offensively, he’s at his best when he is in attack mode to the rim. It will be interesting to watch his development this travel season with the Atlanta All-Stars. - Justin Young
JORDAN THOMAS, SF, HERITAGE, 2017: The 6-foot-5 slasher is one of the more intriguing players in Georgia’s rising senior class. He has the size and natural strength to power his way through defenders as an effective slasher. He has good footwork to be a great wing defender and rebounder. Thomas will be a major force with further development of his perimeter game and continued improvement with his jumper. - Justin Young
TITUS WRIGHT, PF/C, THOMASVILLE, 2019: Georgia’s 2019 class is starting to take shape and Wright is finding his place in the pecking order. This camp setting was a nice glance into what to expect with the rising big man. Naturally strong, Wright has the tools to become quite a force in the low blocks. We paired him up with some of the big dogs in the 2017 class and Wright jumped right into the competition. The foundation is being laid for bright things to come. Expect him to be a fixture moving forward at our Elite Preview camps. - Justin Young |
