YMCA Hoosiers a team to watch
February 1, 2020 - Lynwood Park, GA
Sometimes it's the little things that make the biggest difference in the sport of basketball. For William Walts of the YMCA Hoosiers the little things come easy. Against a challenging opponent Saturday morning Walts showed relentless determination and a knack for the sport at a young age. With his defense he suffocated his opponent wearing the corresponding white colored wrist band. Walts harassed the opposing defense with well executed screens to spring open the Hoosier offense. He also showed a nose for getting to the basket and drawing fouls, twice ending with Walts at the foul line. And for scouts who like players with good "motors," Walts showed he had one of the best in the gym on Saturday as he dove for loose balls and sprinted up and down the floor with little noticeable regard for his body.
The YMCA Hoosiers faced a tough opponent on Saturday and came up short on a regular season win, but it was great to see the Class of 2030 Combo-Guard Walts in action after all of the local buzz about this rising star. Speaking of Hoosiers, Walts said he is waiting on a call from Archie Miller of the other Hoosiers (in Indiana) any day. He said he would keep his recruitment open for a little while longer, but that IU was currently the favorite. However, there have been whispers that Roy Williams and the Tar Heels might be a dark horse for Walts' services.
Asked about what he was most excited about going forward Walts said, "donuts and then playing with my cousins this afternoon."
