Jackson Threadgill breaks down three schools, Cam Hayes' decision to move to 2020, Appalachian State lands big man, Keishon Porter taking visits, Nick Pringle's recruitment, and more.
Threadgill Decision Coming Soon?
One of North Carolina's hottest recruits, Jackson Threadgill is realistically down to three schools. Wofford, Charlotte and Georgia. The 6-foot-5 high IQ sharpshooter recently cut Mercer from his list and canceled his official visit to go ahead and head to Athens, GA for his official visit this weekend at The University of Georgia. HoopSeen caught up with the Davidson Day (NC) guard to discuss his three potential college destinations.
Wofford-"They have had a lot of success in recent years. Academically it is a top notch institution. Even with the new staff, they have all had experience coaching in the NCAA tournament. The opportunity to come in and make an impact right away is there because some of the senior guards will be gone."
Georgia-It's in the SEC so you get to play against great competition every night. They have a great business school. Coach Crean is a great coach and has won everywhere he has been at a high level. They are losing several guards next year so the opportunity to play and make an impact is there right away."
Charlotte-"It's close to home so my family would be able to come to about every game. They've won at a high level before so it can be done. The challenge is getting it back to that. The staff has the blueprint for what it takes to achieve success coming from Virginia. The style of play really fits me. If I were to choose Charlotte, the relationship I have built with the staff would be the biggest factor. I have a great relationship with them and I know I am needed and wanted at Charlotte."
Threadgill will take his official visit to Georgia this weekend and Charlotte the weekend of September 20.
Hayes Moves to 2020
Greensboro Day point guard Cam Hayes has re-classified to the 2020 class. Maryland, Indiana and Florida State have been by the school this week to see him workout. He took an official visit to NC State this past weekend and has cancelled his visit Tennessee that was scheduled for this weekend.
Florida State may still be the dark horse in this one as he is set to officially visit on September 27. For now, all signs are pointing to the Wolfpack for this one.
CJ Huntley Picks Mountaineers
6-foot-10 forward CJ Huntley of Davidson Day (NC) has chosen Appalachian State as his college destination. Huntley visited to Boone, NC campus recently and was impressed enough with Head Coach Dustin Kerns and his visit to go ahead and pull the trigger with his commitment.
Huntley has a 7-foot-3 wingspan and should help beef up the front-court for Appalachian State in the Sun Belt Conference.
Porter Taking Visits
2020 guard Keishon Porter has been on the HoopSeen radar since March when Team Trezz and Porter made an appearance at HoopSeen's Tip-Off and he was named to the All-Tournament team. The 6-foot-5 guard has a great basketball body and showed over the summer that his hard work on his shooting has paid off.
He recently visited Hampton and has already officially visited Radford. The weekend of September 13-15 he will visit UNC-Greensboro. Texas A&M is still in the picture with the staff planning on seeing him again soon.
Pringle Setting Up Visits
Whale Branch (SC) High School big man Nick Pringle has scheduled an official visit to South Carolina State for October. He is in the process of scheduling others and will announce those soon. The 6-foot-8 forward told HoopSeen that he has interest from Wofford, USC-Aiken, USC-Upstate, Francis Marion, Lincoln Memorial, The Citadel, Lander, Presbyterian, UNC-Asheville, North Georgia, Winthrop and Newberry. His offer list includes South Carolina State, Coker and Queens.
Holm Picks Piedmont
6-foot guard Axel Holm of Lincoln Charter in Lincolnton, North Carolina gave a verbal commitment to Piedmont College this weekend. The high basketball IQ guard had offers from Mars Hill University, Phiefer, and Dean College. He was offered by Piedmont on August 28th and went ahead and committed to get ready for his senior season.
