2019 All-HoopSeen Team: Independent Teams
With the travel season in the books, we wanted to roll out superlatives for the year. Our HoopSeen team voted for our MVP, top underclassmen and 1st team All-HoopSeen for independent teams and shoe-sponsored teams. All of the selections must have played on our HoopSeen stage at some point of the year.
Today we unveil our All-HoopSeen team for independent programs.
Production. That is what Isaiah Adams brought to the floor every time he suited up for Team Parsons. He can hurt the opposition in so many ways and Adams did that on the HoopSeen stage from March until July. Another strong attribute for our HoopSeen staff in his game was his ability to stretch the floor. The southpaw consistently made shots from the outside. Adams’ recruitment really picked up after The Best of the South, landing offers from Murray State, UCF, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Nevada, Drake and Mercer. - Justin Byerly
One of the most skilled forwards to play on our stage this season, Bensons play kept the attention of programs throughout our Atlanta Jam. Every game brought a new move as we all looked to peel back what seemed to be a multi-layered prospect. Mid-major programs have prioritized Benson for some time, and now that South Carolina has offered in the past week, more high majors are sure to peek into the Carolina forward. -Tai Young
From a sheer entertainment standpoint, no one shined more at our HoopSeen events more than the powerfully built guard from Florida. Oquendo was a top performer on every stage he played on our HoopSeen circuit. Oquendo was one of the toughest players to guard in the Southeast and he’s always good for catching a body in the open floor or in traffic. Oquendo proved himself as one of the finest prospects in the class of 2020 on the HoopSeen circuit. - Justin Young
If I am a college coach, I want a guy like Keishon Porter on my roster. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard can play multiple positions on the floor and can defend. He is sneaky athletic and proved his biggest question mark coming into July was a non-factor. Porter showed throughout The Best of the South that he can consistently knock down shots out to and beyond the three-point line. His athleticism is there. His ability to attack off the dribble is there. His toughness is there. Now coaches can see that his shot is there. - Justin Byerly
Talford was an easy selection for our staff as we watched every detail of his story unfold over this travel ball season. From our HoopSeen Tip-off to the Best of the South, Talford carried his unit as programs from across the southeast lined the sidelines to watch his development. While the forwards can often be overshadowed in this guard dominant game, Talford created his own path and made sure that people took notice. Winthrop, South Carolina State, Western Carolina, USC Upstate, Maryland Eastern Shore and Presbyterian are some of the programs that offered along the way - Tai Young
