Reese lands Alabama offer
A day after Alabama head coach Anthony Grant saw him go out and score 27 points, 2017 Pelham (AL) power forward Alex Reese landed an offer from the Crimson Tide on Wednesday.
This will be the first of many high-major offers for the 6-foot-8 sophomore, who continues to improve every day.
"It's a blessing. I was very excited," Reese told HoopSeen.com about his most recent offer. "Coach [Anthony] Grant was telling me about how he would love for me to come to Alabama and that I would be a great fit."
Reese visited Alabama unofficially for a football game a few weeks ago. It was very important for both parties.
"He said he enjoyed when I went on the unofficial visit. He wants to have a good relationship with my family and stuff like that."
Being an in-state kid, landing an Alabama offer is important for Reese. There are several things he likes about the Crimson Tide.
"I like the fans, how close it is to home, and the staff there is great," Reese explained.
Alabama joins UAB and Murray State as scholarship offers for Reese. However, more could be coming soon.
"Mississippi State, Georgia, Clemson, Wake Forest, and Tulane are showing interest."
The entire recruiting aspect of things is a bit surreal to Reese. Two years ago, he was only 6-feet tall. After a big growth spurt, he now finds himself as one of the premiere big men in a loaded 2017 class for Alabama. The scary thing is, with his body still growing, Reese is still learning as he goes.
The Birmingham product is very skilled and talented, but there's no doubt, with his high ceiling, the best basketball is in the future for Alex Reese.
Despite being a sophomore, much will be asked of Reese this season. With his talent and size, he will be the go-to player for Pelham. Nevertheless, he has one goal in mind, step-by-step.
"I want to make it to regionals this year."
