Johnson seeking balance in college
Scoring 33 points in a win all the while hitting four three-pointers, standing 6-foot-5, boasting a 4.1 grade point average and still holding onto all five official visits, Kaleb Johnson sure was a popular prospect of conversation at the Phenom Showcase over the weekend.
The class of 2015 prospect from The Carlisle School in Virginia played like a player worth exploring for the mid-plus programs still looking for quality talent in the second signing period. It shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone if Johnson's recruitment makes a significant spike.
The only visit he's made this fall was an unofficial to William & Mary.
"It was a great trip. They have a great campus there," he said.
A trip to Tennessee, a school he says has recently offered him a scholarship, is in the works. He and his father are trying to nail down a visit date. Radford, Penn and Georgia Southern have already dug in with him and are actively recruiting him, too.
"I'm looking at a mix of education and basketball," Johnson said. "I'm looking to find that balance with the books."
