Top Overall Performers from NCBCA Live Event

CHARLOTTE, NC-The NCBCA and the NCHSAA held their team camp this past weekend at Queens University and neighboring Myers Park High School. College coaches and their staffs from around the country made the trip to see some of the top players from the HoopState.

Some players thrive in a team camp setting over an individual showcase event. Here is my list of players that had the top performances over the weekend.

Carter Whitt, Leesville Road HS

The Team Loaded 17U lead guard proved that he is one of the best in the country in the 2021 class over the weekend at the NCBCA Team Camp. HoopSeen's Tai Young had this to say about the point man.

"With Boston College and Ole Miss in to see him, Carter Whitt maintained his position as one of the best players around. There aren’t very many players that can double as a scorer and facilitator at the level that he does. "The amount of "wow" plays made by the Leesville Road guard are out of this world. Unbelievable instincts as a scorer and facilitator. There hasn't been a misstep of note in the first half. Several high majors on hand to take in the action."

Whitt's play over the weekend helped him secure a Maryland offer along with Tennessee and East Carolina University.

Josh Banks, Olympic HS

Banks is wired to score and he has so much energy. He never seems to run out of juice. He can hurt you in so many ways. He can consistently make jump-shots, he can score off the bounce, he can score from all spots on the floor. He picked up offers from Murray State and Virginia Tech since the weekend. He spends the summer playing with Team United on the Nike circuit.

Nolan Dorsey, Millbrook HS

Standing 6'6 and running the lead guard spot, Dorsey impressed the most with his high-level passing ability. He has the handles and court-vision of a guy that will have a solid four year career in college. His length and size allow him to see over smaller guards and easy for him to make hard passes look easy. Since the NCBCA camp, Dorsey has picked up offers from Rider and Air Force to bring the total to seven Division One offers.

Nick Farrar, Apex Friendship HS

Nobody had more schools wanting to get a look at one of the fastest rising recruits in the region. Farrar measures at 6-foot-6 and would be considered an undersized five. He is a force in the paint and has a great frame. He puts a body on the the opposition when a shot goes up and he is a good outlet passer after grabbing the rebound. He is skilled in the post and has some options with his game when he gets the entry pass.

Farrar had one of his biggest games on Sunday, going for 30 points and 12 rebounds. He has since picked up offers from Cincinnatti, VCU and Ohio to go along with College of Charleston, WCU, Appalachian State and a slew of other mid-major programs.

Marcus Elliott, Holly Springs HS

We had the opportunity to see Elliott at The HoopSeen Tip-Off when Garner Road came to town in late March. We saw first hand what Elliott could do and this weekend he showed every college coach in attendance. Going against Dorman (SC) and their top-100 recruit Myles Tate, Elliott left everyone wondering who the kid from Raleigh was. He showed he can shoot it consistently from the outside and possesses great court-vision. He scored 23 points in the win over Dorman.

Anthony Allen, Independence HS

Quickness and the ability to finish plays at the rim in transition are what stands out first with Allen. During the NCBCA Team Camp this past weekend he also showed that he is a solid mid-range shooter and is bouncy off the dribble. He fits the Independence HS standard of hard tough-nosed players that give it their all every game. Allen had been picking up a few Division Two offers this weekend before Rider University pulled the trigger on the DTA Elite guard.

Raekwon Horton, Keenan HS

One of my favorite players for Upward Stars, Horton is a long and athletic wing. His overall skillset is strong and he in my opinion is one of the more highly recruitable players on the team. His stock will only rise as he is going to have the majority of the scoring load on his shoulders with the announcement of fellow rising senior Dillon Jones announcing he is moving to Sunrise Christian in Wichita, Kansas for his senior season.

Horton picked up offers from Charlotte, Norfolk State, Coastal Carolina and Western Carolina University since the team camp festivities ended.
