Four schools standing out to Forrest

Trent Forrest, a 2016 guard out of Chipley (FL), burst onto the AAU scene last year with a big season with the Alabama Challenge. He is now one of the most talked about guards in the Southeast, if not the country.

The 6-foot-3 athlete holds a number of scholarships and more are on the way.

"I have offers from Wichita State, Tennessee, UCF, Miami, Florida State, Providence, USC, Stanford, and Wake Forest," Forrest told HoopSeen.com. "Florida and Texas A&M are two schools that are showing the most interest."

While it is still early in his recruitment, Forrest says four schools are standing out right now in his recruitment.

"Florida, Texas A&M, Florida State, and Miami [are sticking out]."

It is obvious that the in-state schools have made the four-star guard a priority to this point. While the idea of staying close to home isn't a bad idea, Forrest has yet to decide if that will be a deciding factor in his recruitment.

"I'm not sure about staying close to home yet, but I am looking for a school that fits my playing style, good coaches, and a good education."

The odd school in the picture here is Texas A&M. They have made big recruiting strides with the 2015 class, and they are looking to add to it down the road. That is one of the things Billy Kennedy and his staff are selling right now.

"They have been selling the 2015 class and that they will need a point guard [in 2016]," Forrest explained.

Forrest has visited Florida and Florida State this fall. Expect him to make some more short trips to the in-state schools as basketball season gets underway.

There is still a long ways to go in this recruitment, but it looks like the Florida schools have a good chance of keeping this high-level guard in the Sunshine state.
