It didn't take very long for 2019 Bronx (NY) Cardinal Hayes point guard Joe Toussaint to realize where he was wanted the most. Shortly after arriving at Iowa for his official visit, the three-star guard gave the Hawkeyes his verbal commitment.

"I just felt like it was the right fit," Toussaint told HoopSeen.com. "It was a home that was welcoming me into their community from the start."

Toussaint, a 5-foot-10 point guard, proved to be one of the toughest guards on the Nike EYBL circuit this spring and summer. He averaged 5.8 points and 4.5 assists per game, but was an even bigger impact on the defense end of the floor. The battle-tested guard showcased his ability in July at Best of the South.

Heading into the official visit, there were rumblings that Iowa could be the favorite to land Toussaint. From the minute he stepped foot on campus, the New Yorker felt the love and hospitality from the Big 10 crew.

"Once I touched down they treated me like family. Everyone treated me with respect and was interacting with me, so I felt like I was at home already."

Toussaint ultimately chose the Hawkeyes over scholarship offers from Dayton, UNLV, and Wichita State.

He joins Pat McCaffery to make up Iowa's current two-man recruiting class. The Hawkeyes also hosted 2019 forward Trayce Jackson-Davis and 2020 power forward Xavier Foster this weekend.
