Coach Winston Neal was on hand for the 2014 Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions and was on the hunt for shooters. Here's his best of the best from the loaded event.

 Fletcher MaGee (E1T1)  – the shooter from Orlando owns a great stroke from 3 and sneaky bounce.   He’s got a strong frame and good enough handles to get to the rim.   Playing on a loaded E1T1 squad, he plays the role of shooter but the talented wing has a lot more to his game that college coaches will love.   If he gets a step on you going to the rim, opponents consider yourself warned that he will finish with a dunk.   MM coaches are going to have to fight off HM programs to get this young man’s signature in November.  Not only can the young man play, but he comes from a high-caliber academic school with one of the top basketball programs in the state of Florida.   Per his coach, he has offers from UCF, FGCU, South Alabama, Northeastern, George Washington, George Mason, Lehigh, Dartmouth, Northern Arizona, FIU, and UNF.  

 Malik Beasley (Ga Stars)  – he was a tremendous scorer over the weekend but you can’t forget the fact that the young man can really shoot the basketball.   From mid-range pull-ups to 3’s, Malik makes shots from anywhere on the court.   After the open period he got a new set of HM offers from Cal, Texas Tech, Ga Tech, Seton Hall, St John’s, Auburn, FSU, and SMU.   His top 7 right now:  VCU, FSU, UGA, Kansas State, Cal, Cincy, and Tennessee.  

 Jordan Andrews (LA Dynasty)  – the smooth shooting wing from Reserve, LA combines a deep range from 3 with handles and a nice floater when he gets into the paint.   He has a good feel for the game and how to come off screens to get an open look.   MM teams looking for a shooter would do well to give this young man a call.  

 Ethan Stair (Alabama Elite/pictured)  – this wing with size has a textbook stroke from the perimeter.   Ethan showed off his improved handles and brought the ball down to initiate the offense at times.   He has the size and stroke to make college coaches take notice of his game.   As he starts to fill out and his handles continue to improve, his game is really going to blossom.   He lists offers from Samford, High Point, Lipscomb, Wofford, Mercer, Kennesaw State, TN Tech, Elon, Middle TN State, and Richmond.   I would expect the offer list to grow as the summer goes on.   Shooters with size are always a hot commodity in July and as more coaches see him play, the more offers he will receive.  

 Luke Maye (Queen City Thunder)  – the big fella from Hough High School combines a sweet stroke from deep, with a high basketball IQ, and a tenacity around the basket.   College coaches are going to love his stroke and appreciate the fact that he puts his hard hat on every game and comes to play.   I would expect A-10 level schools to have to battle it out with the HM programs for this young man’s services.   Whatever program that is lucky enough to land this young man, is going to get a good player that they will enjoy coaching for 4 years.  

 Jashawn Brooks (Southern Kings)  and Dontae Coleman (Southern Kings) – both wings from Augusta can s hoot it and score it from all over the court.   MM programs in need of athletic wings that can make 3’s should get on these two quickly.   Jashawn lists offers from UTC and App State with interest from multiple MM programs while Dontae lists offers from Gardner Webb and App State with interest from South Alabama, Ga State, Ga Southern, George Mason, Radford, and Middle TN.   I would expect multiple offers from A-Sun, Big South, OVC, and So Con Schools for both these two by the end of July.  

Andrew Flemming (Team Thad) – the shooter from Nashville is well known throughout the south as a player.   He’s got the size and frame to go along with a smooth stroke that college coaches want on their team.   He plays on a talented Team Thad and is a very good compliment to their bigs and athletic guards.   From a recruiting standpoint, Andrew seems pretty far along in the process and lists his top 3 as Florida, Vandy, and Memphis with Nebraska and UNLV coming on hard.  

CJ Jackson (Upward Stars) – the shooter who’s headed to prep school next year played on the ball a lot more this tournament but he’s still deadly from deep.   With an extra year under his belt at prep, look for the MM to be on him hard this summer and fall.
