#Gibbons: 12U/13U Friday notebook
PowerHouse Bulls 2024 are no joke
The 12u powerhouse bulls got Bob Gibbons started at Dacula High School playing against a very good Triple Double squad. This Triple Double team has been very good so far this travel ball season and a team that isn’t easily defeated. The PowerHouse Bulls surprisingly lead the entire game. Guard Darius Wash was the leading scoring hitting four 3’s but this team has immense depth. The player I was most impressed with was big man (#21) Tyler. Tyler only scored 8 points, but you can simply see his dominance just from watching this team play for a few minutes. He has really good touch, a good understanding of the game, and is a really big body. Mix that up with the pass of the day on a thread the needle bounce pass through traffic on a fast break to a teammate for a lay-up. The Powerhouse Bulls really impressed day-1 and if they keep playing this way will see themselves far in this tournament.
Florida Team On a Mission
TNBA South 2023 came to this tournament from the state of Florida with something to prove. Playing against a pretty solid SBC team that got a monster performance out of one of Ammarion Jones, who scored 25 of his teams 43 points. On the other side, TNBA had a little more of a balanced effort with 3 players in double figures and another one with 9 points. The leading scorer combo guard Braeden Marshall played terrifically. He showed that he can become an elite scorer moving forward with an ability to create for himself and also a strong ability to hit the 3. Braeden also has a great body for his age and position which isn’t the case too often. Sam Walters a long lengthy post man, and Nick King all played extremely well for this team. TNBA had a commanding lead throughout the game and looks like they’re out for blood.
Good Games in Losing Effort
Not everyone who played well won their game. Usually, the case at these highly talented events, not every good player team gets a win. As mentioned before, Ammarion Jones for SBC was a stud and had a dominant performance for his team. Yet, he wasn't the only who did that. London Williams and Cameron Scott are 2 players who also impressed albeit a losing effort. London Williams, a center for NSE out of Bufurd, GA had the best touch around the basketball in the gym. Credit the Alabama Hoopers for making his touches difficult, but when he did touch it was 2 points. Williams finished the game with 19 points. Scott who suited up for Columbia Hoopers didn’t score as much, 12 points, but displayed a great amount of potential. His measurable’s are through the rough, standing at about 6’4 with freakish arms. He’s definitely somebody to watch in the forthcoming years.
