Troy adds commitment from 2018 guard K.J. Simon
Troy landed a commitment from 2018 Winter Garden (FL) West Orange combo guard K.J. Simon on Tuesday, a source told HoopSeen.com.
"I picked Troy because it was comfortable for me and it just felt like home," Simon told HoopSeen.com. "I love the coaches and the players are real open and tell you how it really is."
Simon, a long, rangy combo guard, impressed at the Hoop Exchange Live Showcase during July. The 6-foot-3 guard did a nice job of making a difference on the defensive end, as well as raising some eyebrows with his shooting ability.
With his versatility and ability to play effectively on both ends of the floor, Simon should be a valuable piece for the Trojans, who are coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance last year. Simon expects head coach Phil Cunningham to allow him to make an impact early.
"I feel like I can make a big impact coming in at Troy, and the coaches are looking for me to do it as well."
Simon went under the radar for much of the spring, but a big summer with Nike South Beach put him on a stage in front of a number of mid-major coaches. He ultimately chose Troy over a scholarship offer from Murray State.
Simon joins Georgia sharpshooter Spencer Rodgers and JUCO forward Devante Foster in the Trojans' 2018 recruiting class.
