Robert Allen elects for Samford
2018 Orlando (FL) Edgewater power forward Robert Allen made his pledge to Samford on Tuesday, giving the Bulldogs another quality piece in what is becoming an impressive recruiting class for the Southern Conference squad.
"I picked Samford through loyalty," Allen told HoopSeen.com. "Through all the schools that contacted me throughout the process, Samford stayed consistent and kept checking on me."
Allen, a versatile and athletic 6-foot-8 forward, had an impressive travel season with Team Parsons. Capable of playing inside and out, Allen should be a nightmare on the defensive end of the floor.
Samford hosted Allen for an official visit last weekend. While on campus, the senior was impressed with what the school can offer him athletically and academically.
"Samford's academics are outstanding. The environment there is the perfect place to spend the next four years of my life. The basketball team is headed for big things, and I believe Samford has the connections to land me a job down the road after college."
Allen also considered Florida Gulf Coast, Georgia Southern, UAB, and USF.
Allen joins Logan Dye and Deandre Thomas in Samford's 2018 recruiting cycle. They will also host Kentucky guard Steven Fitzgerald for an official visit next weekend.
