Ivery stays home, commits to Georgia State
Georgia State continues to recruit the high school ranks well. The Panthers landed another in-state prep star on Tuesday when Stockbridge (GA) wing Kavonte Ivery committed to the program.
The 6-foot-6 scorer from Atlanta’s southern suburbs has been a target for the school for quite a while.
He has originally planned on an official visit at the end of the month to Georgia State but decided to commit before the trip.
“It's good feel for me, I'll be able to come in next year work hard and be able to make a impact,” Ivery said. “I could develop over the years and eventually become a pro.”
Ivery should give the rotation a nice scoring punch during his career.
"(I think I can make an impact) scoring the ball and give the team some extra fire power from behind the arc," he said.
Georgia State signed Kane Williams and Josh Linder in the 2017 class and D’Marcus Simonds in the 2016 class. The Panthers remain deep in the hunt for top 10 in-state 2018 prospect Nelson Phillips from Warner Robins.
