11U Division II: Georgia Jayhawks 44, Sports Academy South 36
Sports Academy South and the Georgia Jayhawks matched up very well in the first half of the 11U Division II Championship game.
Sports Academy only needed scoring from three players to tie up the game in half one. Bruce Reese Jr. put up 7, Emmanuel Johnson had 6, and Jackson Jennings rounded out the scoring with 4. These guys shot the ball fairly well, and on the rare occasion that they missed, offensive rebounds led to second chance points and trips to the free throw line.
The Jayhawks came out in full-court pressure, and were able to turn defense into offense. They scored mostly in transition and Nile King led the way with 9 first half points. To get things going in the second half, Sports Academy South came out and hit back to back 3s. An administrative tech and extra possession helped give them a 26-19 lead with about 9 minutes to play. The Jayhawks would get back to their defensive principles though, and forced turnovers to tie it back up at 26.
The scoring slowed for Sports Academy and the Jayhawks took advantage, building a 10-point lead with four minutes to play. Georgia Jayhawks went on to win the championship by a score of 44 to 36. King led the way with 21 points.
