Taeshon Cherry elects for USC

USC has been no stranger to success on the recruiting trail over the last few years under head coach Andy Enfield, and things kept rolling on the recruiting trail Friday afternoon, as the Trojans landed a verbal pledge from 2018 San Diego (CA) St. Augustine forward Taeshon Cherry

Cherry, a versatile 6-foot-8 forward, is one of the most talented players on the West Coast in the 2018 class. With his versatility and skill-set, Cherry will be able to play multiple positions for the Trojans, much like Bennie Boatright does now. Expect Enfield and his staff to be extremely creative with Cherry once he hits campus, as the rising senior's shooting ability and athleticism make him a tough player to guard.

Playing on the EYBL circuit with the Oakland Soldiers, Cherry enhanced his stock as much as any player in the country. He finished the regular season averaging 14 points and nine rebounds per game while knocking on the door of a national top-30 ranking.

USC hosted Cherry for an unofficial visit last week and was able to seal the deal. He chose the Trojans over scholarship offers from Arizona, Gonzaga, Oregon, San Diego State, and Texas A&M.

Cherry joins another talented forward in J'Raan Brooks to make up USC's current two-man recruiting class.

Now the Trojans will turn their attention towards the No. 1 player in the country, Marvin Bagley III, and attempt to keep him in Southern California, too.
