#Gibbons Spotlight: Andrew Taylor
2018 Corbin (KY) point guard Andrew Taylor was one of the most impressive players at the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions this weekend. The 6-foot-2 floor general averaged 21 points per game and was named to the tournament Super Six.
Taylor recently made the move to the Louisville Magic and it seems like a good fit. He thrived in catch-and-shoot situations, as well as getting his teammates involved at a high rate. Taylor knocked down 17 three-pointers over the course of the weekend, even though he was absent from action Sunday because of a family member's graduation.
Nevertheless, the Kentucky native quickly made his mark to everyone that saw him play. Several college programs have taken early notice, too.
"I have offers from Davidson, Belmont, Furman, Appalachian State, Eastern Kentucky, UT-Arlington, Winthrop, Elon, Mercer, Wright State, Vermont, Wofford, Pennsylvania, Stetson, and some others," he told HoopSeen.com.
While a decision isn't anywhere close, Taylor admits that a handful of schools have distanced themselves from the pack and are currently sticking out.
"I really like Davidson, Belmont, and Furman. I could really see myself fitting in well at those schools."
With June on the horizon, Taylor plans to utilize his time wisely and see some college campuses. He knows of two campuses he will definitely see during the down month.
"I'm definitely visiting Davidson in June, and then I am supposed to go to Vanderbilt, too."
Taylor will make a coaching staff extremely excited come November and he is an ideal mid-major point guard at the next level. He will win games in March, and it's no surprise to see programs like Davidson, Belmont, and Furman hot on his trail.
