Jaykwon Walton makes the most of April evaluation periods
Heading into the spring travel season, 2019 Carver-Montgomery (AL) wing Jaykwon Walton held a lone scholarship offer from UAB.
However, after a couple of strong showings on the EYBL circuit with the Alabama Fusion 16U group, the 6-foot-5 shooting guard is becoming a hot commodity for several college programs. He utilized the open evaluation periods to his advantage and is approaching double-digit offers.
In addition to the Blazers, Walton now holds offers from Tulane, South Alabama, TCU, Georgia, Southern Miss, Louisiana Tech, and Middle Tennessee State. Alabama, Auburn, Florida, and Mississippi State are among the programs showing high interest.
Walton is a smooth operator from the wing. With ideal size for a shooting guard and the ability to score from all three levels, the sophomore is an intriguing prospect for college programs. Walton has also displayed his ability to stretch the defense as a legitimate threat from behind the arc, too.
While Walton is already producing at a high level for the Alabama Fusion and Carver-Montgomery, his best basketball is yet to come. The long wing has a high ceiling and loads of potential to go along with his impressive skill-set. He is a prospect that high-major programs will want to buy stock in heading into the latter parts of his high school career.
Our initial 2019 rankings for the state of Alabama will be unveiled this week. Walton is sure to be on the list - and rather high at that. He is also quickly rising up college coaches' boards, too.
