#ATLJam Spotlight: Chase Fiddler
2018 Madison (AL) Bob Jones wing Chase Fiddler had a successful opening to the travel season playing with Pro One Select and capped off a productive evaluation period at the Atlanta Jam over the weekend.
Fiddler, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard, dazzled college coaches with his athleticism and scoring ability throughout the weekend. With passion and the ability to entertain the crowd, the junior caught the eye of many bystanders at Suwanee Sports Academy. Several college programs are beginning to show early interest in Fiddler.
"Campbell, Tennessee Tech, Alabama-Huntsville, Arkansas Tech, and Queens University have all been showing interest," Fiddler told HoopSeen.com. "I visited Campbell last week for an unofficial visit."
Campbell has been showing high interest in Fiddler for quite some time now. With some free time before the initial evaluation period, he decided to drop by the Campbell campus for a quick visit.
"The campus was small but it's really homey. Everything I would need is right there in this little town. I really enjoyed it."
The two-day visit also gave Fiddler an opportunity to build a better relationship with the coaching staff and players on campus.
"The coaching staff is great. We talked about academics and how I would have 24-hour access to the gym, weight room, and study hall. Before I left I was able to play pickup ball with the team. It was a great experience to see how I compared to Division-I players," he explained.
With college interest steadily starting to come in, Fiddler hopes to see as many college campuses as possible before making a decision. The trip to Campbell was his first trip, but another short trip could come up soon.
"Coach [Derek] Johnston from Alabama-Huntsville talked to my dad about me coming to UAH to look at the school sometime in the next two weeks."
Alabama-Huntsville is right in the backyard for Fiddler, just a short drive through Madison to campus. The Chargers have done a terrific job of keeping talent within the area, and Fiddler could be the next hometown prospect to suit up for UAH.
However, more and more Division-I programs will start showing interest. Also a state champion high-jumper in track, Fiddler provides plenty of intrigue for a variety of college programs. Expect him to have a busy summer filled with calls and recruiting pitches.
