Georgia Cup III Middle School Championships
14U Black Championship: Top Notch Select 61, Warner Robins All-Stars 41
Top Notch Select turned defense into offense to help them roll to a double-digit win. Offensive rebounds and put-backs were the story behind Landon Kardian’s 16 points for Top Notch. While Xavier Hill managed eight points, Warner Robins struggled to score outside of Harold Morgan who had an aggressive 14 points. The Select used an 11-0 run to start the third quarter to impose their will and did not let up.
14U Orange Championship: Walton Flames 72, Georgia Achievers 64
Justin Bogard dropped 39 points to beat Georgia Achievers by eight. After a tight first quarter, an 8-0 run gave the Flames some momentum but the Achievers were able to tie it up by halftime. Bogard imposed his will with eleven points and several nice assists in the third quarter. The Achievers hit five threes in the fourth quarter to keep it close but Bogard’s aggression was too much to handle. Jeremiah Tillman put up 17 in the loss and Zikora Okwuosa added 14.
13U Orange Championship: Runnin Rebels 46, HWPO 45
Derrick White hit a game-winning layup with 3 seconds remaining to give the Runnin Rebels a 46-45 win over HWPO in a tightly contested affair. White put the Rebels on his back as he scored 34 of his team’s 46 points. He attacked the rim all game and just couldn’t be stopped. Leading the way for HWPO in the loss was Cameron Johnson and Joseph Jordan as they each had 11 points.
13U Black Championship: Game Elite DB 59, Triple Double 40
Game Elite DB avenged an earlier tournament loss to Triple Double by winning the 13U Black Championship 59-40. Chance Thacker put up 22 in a win against Game Elite earlier in the tournament but couldn’t get anything going in the championship as he only had three points. Kaden McArthur led the way for Game Elite with 21 in the win. After being tied at 23 at halftime, Game Elite ramped up the pressure and started the second half on a 13-0 run. They outscored Triple Double 17-3 in the third quarter and never looked back. Leading the way for Triple Double in a loss was Oscar Lynch with 13 points.
