Muhammad is beginning his ascension
Issa Muhammad was one of the top prospects at the Elite Preview two weeks ago. Two years ago, he wasn’t even on the radar for the top players in Georgia’s 2019 class.
The 6-foot-9 forward from Lakeside Dekalb (GA) High School is one of the most physically gifted players in the class and a game that continues to develop into high-major intrigue.
He was one of the top prospects from our Elite Preview because of his ability to pick and pop as a big man and his end to end ability as a transition player. Sure, there is still a long ways to go with his development but the talent and foundation is there.
The college coaches are starting to see it, too.
Muhammad said he holds offers from Georgia Tech, Ole Miss and UNC Charlotte while Clemson and Wake Forest have shown interest.
Muhammad will be on hand this weekend for the Norman Parker Showcase, playing with the 16 and under team in the 17 and under age group.
We are working on our class of 2019 rankings at the moment and hope to publish them prior to the NPS. Muhammad will more than likely be a top 10 player in the state.
